The young man said to [Jesus], “All these [commandments] I have kept. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19.20-22 ESV

It is a good thing to ask God what we still lack in our faith and work on it. We may never be perfect while on earth but God helps our faith grow.

Each of us lacks in different ways. In the story of the young man above, Jesus reminded us that we ought to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6.24 ESV
