The Christian faith gives assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ, regardless of our sins, i.e. salvation is not through our good deeds or religious activities.

Is it not too easy?

Not really.

You see, many people do good deeds and do religious things and many people think they then deserve to go to heaven accordingly. But it does not mean their hearts are where God wants them to be.

The Lord God knows our hearts and thoughts.

"This people honours me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me ..."
Matthew 15.8-9 ESV

In the Gospel, Jesus told many parables about many people who thought they were good, but in the end could not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. But on the cross, Jesus told the other person that he would be in Paradise with him, regardless of his sinful life, because Jesus knew his heart has turned to God.

Let's get our heart close to him.
