"Honour your father and mother. Love your neighbour as yourself." (Matthew 19.19 NLT)

Many of us have complicated relationships with our parents. And how we are to honour them in this day and age is not detailed much in the Bible.

One thing that has been written about by others, is that our relationships with our parents influences who we become and how we form relationships with others in our lives. But being born again in Christ, we have the Holy Spirit to help us break free from our past.

In Christ, we can treat and honour our parents differently. Each of us has unique circumstances with our parents, but there is always the Christ-like way to honour them.

"Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7.12 NLT)
