Dealing with fear

Fear is a powerful motivator (or demotivator) to action (or inaction). For many of us, we operate under fear without our conscious realisation that it is influencing so many aspects of our lives.

Many forms of fear are subtle or assumed as fact subconsciously. Many of us had formative experiences or encounters when we were growing up and these formed our unconscious expectations and assumptions about life in general - small things and sometimes big things too.

And when we gave our lives to the Lord, we entrust our lives to him. So when we feel anxious, let us remember that the Lord our God is in control.

A favourite song of mine is “It is well” by Kristene DiMarco and Raquel Vega. The lyrics goes like this.

"
Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me

Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me

So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name
"

Yes and amen. What a wonderful reminder that “the waves and wind still know His name” (Matthew 8.23-27). So, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3.5
