Shepherd what?

The LORD is my shepherd; I lack nothing. (Psalm 23.1 NIV)

I think nowadays most people do not have any exposure to shepherding at all. The closest to sheep we come into contact is wool or lamb dishes. For most of us, the concept of "my shepherd" does not relate.

And we are bombarded with advertising messages all the time that we need this and we need that everywhere we turn. We are coerced to think that we lack so many things.

This is where Psalm 23.1 is relevant for us, although we may not be familiar with shepherding life. The lesson that we need to understand about shepherding is simple: sheeps have all their needs cared for by their shepherd at all times. Just like God takes care of us at all times.

God knows our needs best and he provides for us in his way. We "lack nothing" regardless what the advertisements and people on social media tell us.
