Extend grace
I was reminded yesterday about the need to "extend grace to those who do not deserve it" in a book by Dave Brunn.
And then later in the evening, while driving, I was irritated by a driver who intentionally did what he, in my opinion, was not supposed to do. Subconsciously, I had low regard for the other driver due to his behaviour. I thought he did not deserve to drive on the road.
As I reflect on it, it dawns on me that in my heart I did not "extend grace" to the other driver. I am not a police who might want treat him differently, but the point is about how I regard the person, not his action.
As Dave pointed out, as Christian, ideally I "extend grace to those who do not deserve it". Jesus extended grace to me who do not deserve it. He loves me the sinner despite my sins.
By the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and more will be added to you. (Mark 4.24 CSB)
Lord
Change my heart so I can extend grace generously
to everyone I meet in my daily life
Amen
