God still performs miracle
Last night, I attended a fellowship where Pastor Chrisso Handy from Sri Lanka gave a testimony over a video call.
He shared a testimony from her mom when many years ago, the family was trapped in the house during a military lockdown and could not get out to buy food at all. She cooked vegetables from whatever she could gather in the garden, but she only had one container of rice enough to feed the big family for a few days.
The lockdown continued for two and a half months, but every time she opened the rice container, there was enough rice to cook for the meal.
Recently the whole country of Sri Lanka was in economic turmoil and at one point the situation was really bad that many people ran out of basic needs. His wife told him that there was only enough cooking oil in the kitchen to last them a couple of weeks and there was no cooking oil available to buy in the stores anymore.
But the cooking oil in their kitchen did not dry out until they were able to buy it in the stores a few months later.
This testimony reminded me of the widow and the olive oil story.
One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?”
“Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbours. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”
So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. (2 Kings 4.1-6 NLT)
God still performs miracle. Glory to God.
