Strength from Christ

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4.12-13 NLT)

Verse 13 above is popular: "I can do everything" and becomes the motivation for many people to start something. They assume Christ will give the strength needed.

But what does God imply by giving "strength"?

In the passage above, written by Paul, he went through hardships (verse 12) which were unavoidable in his case to accomplish his mission. And God gave him strength for it.

If we say "I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength", what is the mission that Christ has given us to do?

If the mission is not from Christ, then we are doing our own thing. That is not part of the deal.

So let us focus on the mission that Christ wants us to do. And he will give us strength to "do everything" that needs to be done to accomplish his mission for us.
