To old age
Some people have relatively well-defined working age and retirement age. Others have less clear boundaries out of financial necessity, or sometimes by design (e.g. self-employed).
If you are already in "retirement", what do you do everyday?
Or if you have not yet reached "retirement", what do you plan for your "retirement"? (If you have not given it much thought, now is a good time to start.)
I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil – this is the gift of God. ... So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. (Ecclesiastes 3.12-13,22 NIVUK)
"Do good", "find satisfaction in our toil", and "enjoy our work". "Be happy" and "eat and drink" (healthily). There is no age limit for all of these; we do not need to retire from doing them.
"
[The righteous] will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.'
"
(Psalm 92.14-15 NIVUK)
"
Even to your old age and grey hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
...
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned, that I will do.
"
(Isaiah 46.4,11 NIVUK)
Let us seek God's will and align our life plan with God.
And let us continue to toil for God and do good - all the way through old age until the day we die.
