God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. (Matthew 22.32 WEBBE)

The Lightfoot commentary quoted from the words of the Jerusalem Gemara: "The righteous, even in death, are said to live; and the wicked, even in life, are said to be dead."

When we are born again (John 3) in Christ, we are no longer dead spiritually, but alive and God becomes our God. And when our physical body die, we will be resurrected and be "like God's angels in heaven" (Matthew 22.30 WEBBE).

Let us be spiritually alive now on earth, knowing that our spirit will live on even after our bodily death.
