As living creatures, we have innate tendency to focus on pleasing ourselves. Me, me, me.

But as born-again followers of Christ, we are called to follow his example.

We must not just please ourselves. We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. (Romans 15.1-3 NLT)

Christ' focus is to please God. And so should we.

In everything, we ought to always ask: Is this pleasing God?
