What do we do when we work at a job that we do not truly enjoy? Do we plough through the drudgery just to earn an income and at the end of the day try to "escape" and reward ourselves with some empty entertainment on screen?

Or maybe we are retired or still studying at school and we are anxious that our days are hollow with uncertain future?

In the eyes of the world, our profession (or lack of) defines us. In the eyes of God, our profession is his tool in using us for his glory. In the eyes of God, our personal relationship with Jesus is what defines us.

And if we are in a place or situation or period that we do not truly desire, let us remember that God has a purpose for placing us there and then. Let us look around us and see how we can fulfill our spiritual role not just in spite of, but also because of, our less-than-desirable circumstance.

There is always someone who we can help in whatever circumstance we are in, with the gift that God has given us, if we let God guide us to be sensitive to others' needs. And when we use our God-given gift to bless others in our less-than-desirable circumstance, we get a more positive perspective on our circumstance.

Being a blessing for others is a desirable thing, despite the less-than-desirable circumstance.
