Read with discernment
Paul in 1 Corinthians 11.16 gave instructions to the Jewish Christians in Corinth to maintain a particular custom regarding head covering. "But if anyone wants to argue about this, I simply say that we have no other custom than this, and neither do God’s other churches."
This custom apparently was not adopted by non-Jewish Christians and there was no mention in Paul's letters to the other churches to follow this same custom. Among the Jews, this custom eventually faded away and are not strictly practiced by contemporary Jews anymore.
Lesson learned? Let us read the Bible with discernment and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to understand it. When we see a bible verse quoted in isolation, let us understand the context of where that verse came from.
And let us read the Bible more. :-)
