Accepted
Oh the things people do to keep up with others, so they can feel "accepted" by others. Social media on the internet takes this to another level and may promote or change certain behaviours of the social media users. Christ followers included.
Many, if not most, of the social media platforms are advertising-based business. The users' data is the product that the platforms sell to advertisers.
The advertisers would do almost anything to influence the users behaviours to favour and buy more and more of their products or services. Many users are influenced by the advertising and buy and use their products and services and post it on their social media feed.
Others then see this and want to keep up so they also buy. And thus the cycle continues and keeps growing - turning the society in general to be consumptive and materialistic.
Sometimes this sounds like a strategic scenario from the devil - the deceiver - don't you think?
As Christ followers, let us be wise in choosing which social media platforms to use and what to post. More importantly, we ought to understand the real motivation for WHY we want to post this or that, before we post it.
Jesus accepts us. We are accepted.
