God does not owe me
When I am going through hard times, I often think that God has a good reason for allowing it. I often hear this preached based on Romans 8.28, “all things work together for good”.
I tell myself: I do not understand the reason at the moment, but someday God will make it clear.
Maybe. Maybe not.
God does not owe me anything that he needs to explain or justify his actions or decisions to me.
He does things "for good" and it does not need to be my "good". He does them to serve his purposes. And this is a good enough reason for me.
When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’? No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’
