Life's reappraisal

A friend of mine, on her birthdays, would appraise her life. She checks how she is doing against her life's plan. I think that is a good habit.

"The unexamined life is not worth living." So Socrates said. But what does "unexamined" mean? Socrates does not believe in Jesus. How do we relate this to the Christian faith?

To me, I want to examine or appraise my life against Jesus' life: his behaviours, his actions, and his words. Am I Christ-like?

For many, living a Christ-like life is not worth living; they value things that Christ does not value. They seek happiness in worldly values.

As for me, I find joy and peace in what Christ values. The more Christ-like I am becoming, the more joy and peace I get.

"
When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative — that is, the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.
"

(John 14.26-27 NLT)

It is good to reappraise our life from time to time.
