Were you ever a Christian?
We may think we are Christians and others may say we are Christians. But what does Jesus think of us - does he think we are his followers? Does he know us as in John 10.14-15 (NLT)?
I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father.
It matters not how good we think we are (besides we all over-estimate our goodness) or how active we are in "ministry". What matters is whether we know him and follow him with all our hearts and minds.
In Matthew 7.21-23 (NLT) Jesus said:
"Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.
On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’"
Does he know us?
