I like to have things under control. I try to be prepared before I do something, so I can do it to the best of my ability. And to be able to handle it when things do not go according to plan.

But no matter how hard I try, some things are simply beyond my control. And I need to learn to rest in God and surrender the control to him. Behind the scenes, he is the one who is always in control. It was just an illusion that I thought I am in control.

As in Reinhold Niebuhr's prayer:

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time
...
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Lord, I surrender to Your will.
