True wealth
I am not a competitive person, but my parents instilled in me a strong work ethic. I grew up with the philosophy that it is better to overachieve than to underachieve. It is better to have more money in the savings account than less, for future needs.
Sounds like good philosphy.
It is akin to "Ants — they aren’t strong, but they store up food all summer." (Proverbs 30.24 NLT)
At the same time, I need to be careful that I am not driven by fear of not having enough in "winter".
Jesus said "Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?" (Matthew 6.26 NLT)
I need to work hard and at the same time, trust God fully that he will take care of me.
To know what is enough is true wealth.
