God is faithful. His love is everlasting.

At the same time, his wisdom is beyond fathom. He knows what is good for us and will act accordingly. Even if that means taking away something.

“The Lord gave me what I had,
and the Lord has taken it away.
Praise the name of the Lord!”

Let us have confidence that whatever he takes away is to help us be more like Jesus.

A carver takes a block of wood and carves away pieces from the block until all that remains is the intended shape. So does God.

God gives and God takes away, so that we become more and more like Jesus.
