Cheerful heart
"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength." (Proverbs 17.22 NLT)
Being around someone who whines a lot drains my energy. Some people are prone to express whatever negative observation that comes to thought out loud. They are unable to filter it.
At the very least, they could have been constructive in their comments, but they did not. Their comments accomplish nothing but spread negativity.
Of course bad things abound. If they are in our capability to fix, then it would be better to fix it rather than complain about it. If not, then maybe we can find someone who can and talk to them constructively about it. But if none of the above, then does it really help anyone by complaining about it?
We should not turn a blind eye to bad things. But I think it would be nice if we focus or comment on good things and be thankful to God in everything (1 Thessalonians 5.18). Such behaviour brings positive spirit to people around us. It builds each other up.
A thankful heart is a cheerful heart.
