Trust vs obey
As the famous hymn goes, "trust and obey".
We can trust but not obey. For some people, the full trust may even be misused to disobey. For example, trust that forgiveness will always be given regardless of obedience. I think this is misguided.
Trust involves full trust in the implication and effect that obedience will lead to. Trust means trusting that obedience is the right choice.
We can not trust but obey. For some people, obedience is a matter of tradition. Or even forced obedience. But without trust. The pharisees come to mind. And they did not go along with Jesus.
Trust and obey are two sides of the same "coin", i.e. our faith in Christ.
Lord,
help us to trust AND obey.
