Test everything
I get concerned when others tell me to eat this or that because it will cure that or this. What is the source of this information? Is it backed by verifiable evidence from controlled observation or clinical study? Is the observed patient group compatible with or relevant for me? Just because we can read or view on the internet about someone who heard from someone - does not mean it will work on me.
It does not hurt to try, right? Actually and exactly because every body is unique, the wrong combination of stuffs and conditions can lead to undesirable contraindication. So it is worth checking things out beforehand.
Likewise spiritually.
A verse taken in isolation out of context can lead to undesirable understanding. One thing can lead to another.
So let us be mindful of how we consume and digest God's word. And be more and more diligent in studying his word.
"Don’t quench the Spirit, don’t despise inspired messages.
But do test everything —
hold onto what is good, but keep away from every form of evil."
(1 Thessalonians 5.19-22 CJB)
