If you are willing

God is a generous God. But he is not obligated to bless all the time.

The key is his will.

"While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ And immediately the leprosy left him." (Luke 5.12-13 NIV)

It is clear that I have a need, just like the leper above. I need God to help me. What can I do to change his mind, so he is willing to bless me?

But who knows better what I need if not God? I am merely human.

I think a better question is: What do I need to change, so I understand what I truly need and ask for what is according to God's will?
