Sometimes God calls out some people into total abandonment. Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, the Apostles, and of course, Jesus.

On second thought, maybe he calls every Christian into total abandonment as well. Just that I do not realise it at times.

I am called to totally abandon my reliance on my self, people around me, material wealth, etc. Instead, I am to rely on Jesus and him alone.

It does not feel natural. Especially I grew up thinking "God helps those who help themselves" - which feels true, but holds me back from total abandonment.

I suppose the challenge is walking the path of total abandonment while at the same time giving my all to do what I need to do (Colossians 3.23). And walking with confidence that within total abandonment, God never abandons me (Hebrews 13.5).
