Out of the grave

"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. ...

Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out – those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned."

(John 5.24-25,28-29 NIVUK)

The point is not the grave nor the corpse. Those who had completely decomposed and disappeared into the earth will also come out. The point is that there is life after death. And that it is affected by the current life.

This is a key tenet of faith.

And for Christians, this faith is built upon written history of prior resurrections. The Bible records a number of dead people who were resurrected. And I have faith that I will be resurrected in Christ.

"For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. ..

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body."

(1 Corinthians 15.16-17,42-44 NIVUK)

Glory to God.
