“Well,” they answered, “are you also from Galilee? Study the Scriptures and you will learn that no prophet ever comes from Galilee.” (John 7.52 GNB)

The Pharisees picked and choose the Scriptures they want to use for their own interests and ignores others. In the verse above, they use their "understanding" of the Scripture to say one thing, while ignoring what the Scripture say.
