Cultural norms conditioned me to think that I "deserve" an outcome that I work hard for.

If I study hard, I deserve to get good grades and thus be able to a good school. If I go to a good school and study hard, I deserve to graduate well and thus be able to get a good job. If I work hard, I deserve to do well and be rich.

However, to be richly blessed by God is purely God's grace. I do not deserve it.

God loves to bless you and me, deserving or not. At the same time, he blesses me only as he wills it to suit his purpose, not my plan nor my desire.

And it is amazing that God finds it suitable to bless me in many ways. More than I can see and understand at present, but I can sense his blessings at work in my life.

Lord,
use my life according to your purpose
help me be subservient to your will.
