Money is useful to enhance quality of life. A lot of money affords us flexibility in acquiring goods and services to make life more comfortable and pleasant. I get that. I can appreciate quality when I see it and it makes sense to pay more for quality when it makes a difference.

But sometimes quality is a brand perception and pricing strategy. The price is higher due to the brand status - an intangible value. Many people buy it for status signalling, not because the higher price brings more tangible value.

God wants us to have fun and to enjoy the life that he has given us. But we also need to be purposeful in how we spend the money God has provided us. Two points.

First. It takes a lot of time and hard work to make money. Sometimes at the expense of time with those we love. If the money is spent on "useless" things, is it worth the sacrifice?

Second. There are many who are less fortunate. Have we shared our blessings with them? We cannot take our fortune with us when we die.
