I am educated to smile back when someone smiles to me. It is polite and courteous. I feel good when someone returns my smile, so it makes sense that I do the same to others.

And when I receive a surprise lovely gift that I like, I also smile, but it is more than just a polite smile. It is a spontaneous outburst of joyful smile. The trigger of such smile is not just from a lovely gift. A cute silly face from someone can do the trick also for me. It can be anything. Really.

Yesterday, I met with a friend at a coffee shop. Afterwards, he was going to meet up with his two college-age girls. When we were leaving the coffee shop, I bought two take-away cold drinks for him to give to the girls. I hoped they liked the drinks.

I could imagine their surprise smiles. That was fun.

remind me to take time
to do little things that bring joyful smiles
to those I love and also to others.
