"Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the entrance. ... Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb. ... Then the disciples went back home. ...

Mary stood crying outside the tomb. ... Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned towards him and said in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (This means “Teacher”.)"

Like Mary, Peter and the other disciple were shocked at the extraordinary unraveling. And then they went back home immediately. Mary lingered behind and expressed her emotion for the missing Jesus.

But Jesus was not missing. He was there.

Ah the joy of surprising Mary with the good news and Mary's joy of seeing her Teacher. What a joyful event.

God delights in surprising us with joy.
