"Let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to what our human nature wants. These two are enemies, and this means that you cannot do what you want to do. ...

The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. ... The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives."

Neither faith nor discipline produces these, but the Spirit. On my own, my human nature wants the opposite of these. But if I subjugate my desires to the Spirit, then the Spirit produces "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control" through me.

Not me who produces them, but the Spirit. Not my will, but God's will. My will prioritises "me". The Spirit's will prioritises God's will, as Jesus would.

"What would Jesus do?" Jesus would say and do things that are "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control".

Lord,
help me to always
remember Jesus
before I say things and do things
And help me to follow
the Spirit's leading
