"As for me, however, I will boast only about the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ; for by means of his cross the world is dead to me, and I am dead to the world."

(Galatians 6.14 GNB)

Paul was someone with great background and credentials. And he was also a Roman citizen. He could have lived a privileged life.

And yet, he did not. He chose to "boast only about the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ". The world was dead to him. He chose to live only for Jesus.

The Lord knows that I need to be reminded frequently not to live for the world and not to rely on the world. And not to depend on the blessings he has provided me in this world.

My time in this world is short. One day I will be dead. Physically.

But in spirit, I will continue to exist and be with the Lord. For ever. The world would not matter. Not one bit.
