The cross before me (5)
Biologically, the physical body is adaptable to various changes in our circumstances. We may complain about the changes, but our body will carry on. If the change is permanent, over time our body may form new comfort zone and habits. This happens naturally and perhaps unconsciously.
Likewise spiritually, faith can adapt and change to adjust to the circumstances happening in life. Little changes can go unnoticed and acclimatisation sets in.
I need to be attuned to changes that can affect my faith and how I live my faith. I do not want my faith to adapt in ways that stop me from getting closer to the cross, much less going backward toward the world.
Maybe this is why God caused big changes in my life to wake me up from my auto-pilot and to take control of the spiritual direction of my life, so I do not regress.
"No turning back, no turning back."
