“Joy to the world” is a popular Christmas message - one that conjures a rather specific storyline of miraculous blessing or deliverance. It may come true for some people, but not for most.

Christ did not come for miracles. He came to manifest God’s love and to bring forth God’s plan.

The plan is not always joyful, but Christ’ birth is a reminder that God does not forsake his people. And that I can be joyful, through whatever circumstance, because God loves me.
