Keep your roots deep
"I tell you, then, do not let anyone deceive you with false arguments, no matter how good they seem to be. ...
Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving."
(Colossians 2.4,6-7 GNB)
To avoid getting deceived, I need to be able to know what is true and what is not. And be able to follow through with the thought process so the truth or the real thing does not get twisted into what is not.
I need to live in union with Christ and keep my roots deep in him and build my life on him. To do so, I need to invest time and effort in spending time with Christ - studying his words and praying.
And last but not least, I need to be filled with thanksgiving. A disgruntled heart will always look for the negatives in life and will become vulnerable to tempting thoughts for the easy way - which is what the deceivers argue falsely.
Lord,
please help me be rooted deeply in Christ
and be filled with thanksgiving
