In daily life, I want to be better, have more, enjoy more. I read about things on the internet and get forwarded messages by others about how this or that can help me achieve that - to be happier. And the pursuit of happiness can be enslaving.

But Christ wants me to be in full union with him, not with what the world defines as 'happiness'.

Christ is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority - this is an important tenet of being a Christian. If I do not believe this, then it is easy for me to be deceived by human teachings and claims. If I believe Christ is supreme, then there is no reason for me to believe and follow anyone or anything else except Christ.

please help me be in full union with Christ
