Being a Christian is more than just accepting Jesus as Saviour. Accepting Jesus as Saviour is a first step. A crucial understanding of following Jesus is accepting God as the only God.

But many people tack on God as just another god, as opposed to the only God. For some, they still believe the teaching of their previous god. For others, they believe in the god of money. Etc, etc. And when they do not get their way, they blame God (the Christian God), although they live as if the other god(s) are more important than God.

It does not work that way. If God is my God, I must abandon all other gods. There can be no rival.
