Keep yourself in training
"Keep yourself in training for a godly life. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future." (1 Timothy 4.7-8 GNB)
What does spiritual exercise look like? I suppose this is different for everyone. Very much like the appropriate physical exercise is different for everyone, depending on each person's circumstances. And in most cases, we will not know unless we do it.
And the exercise itself will evolve over time. One who does not exercise ought not start with running a full marathon without all the necessary build up exercises. The right exercise ought to be adjusted to what works for each person.
The most important thing is to start. Continue consistently. And then adapt and improve.
