Many of us strive to reach the next level - be it in games, sports, career, fame, fortune, etc.

Matthew 19.16-22 tells a story of a person who was both successful and religious. He wanted to reach the next level and so he consulted Jesus.

Jesus’ words did not suit him and he went away. We do not know the rest of his story.

Jesus’ prescription might be different for each of us depending on where we are. I do not know what “the next level” looks like for me. Am I required to reach the next level? Is it okay for me to stay put?

I am still learning new things about faith. Learning means progress, I hope. Maybe I am already on the path for the next level, whatever that may be.
