Free will
"God would much prefer our honest doubts to a dishonest faith." (Gary Parker)
My doubt cannot change any fact about God. Doubt is a reflection of my faith, not God's facts. He either exists or he does not exist. What I think does not change that. The circumstances of the world do not change that, either.
"Having faith means acting without final knowledge or proven certainty. It means that we go before we know the final results. ... Faith is not needed where certainty exists ... If we possess certainty, then we hold knowledge, and "to know" something means we no longer need faith. Faith exists only when we cannot conclusively demonstrate or prove the object of our trust." (Gary Parker)
If I do not have doubt, I will not exercise my free will to choose. To choose to doubt / reject or to believe. Everybody chooses, whether he / she realises it or not.
And choosing is not a one-time event - choose once and forever set. Free will means that everybody can change his / her mind. Free will also means that faith must be maintained constantly.
Lord,
I chose to believe
please help me continue believing
