“… They find joy in obeying the Law of the LORD, and they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. …”

We are created in the image of God. And God’s commands help us live as the image of God.

This is why there is joy in obedience, when I live according to what I was created.

As with human tools, sometimes I may use a tool for something that it is not designed for. It may work for a bit, but not optimal and not joyful.

In my life, I experience joy more when I am in line with God’s will than when I went against his will. Like a tree beside a stream instead of a dried up tree.
