One person's god is someone else's idol and vice versa.

Even if one believes in the one true God, she/he may actually worship a different god in daily life. Call it idol or whatever, but the subject that controls is essentially a "god" in practice. Anybody and anything that wrestles influence and control in my daily life, whatever it is called, acts as "god".

I do not want this other "god", as tempting as it may be. I only want the God who Jesus calls Father.

Lord, you are my one true God
please help me get rid of anything that tries to become "god" in my life
