Façade

"Do not condemn me with the wicked,
with those who do evil —
those whose words are friendly,
but who have hatred in their hearts."

(Psalms 28.3 GNB)

We choose our friends as best we can, but we cannot know their true thoughts. We get along with them at the moment, but we do not know how the relationships can evolve in the future under different circumstances.

This should not stop me from developing and strengthening the friendships with those friends. But I also need to be realistic. We have our individual lives and circumstances that keep evolving.

I should not get too dejected when the relationships have moved on into something different. They probably do not mean any hatred nor harm towards me. It is just that they have moved on.

What is important is to cherish my friends as best I can, support them whenever the opportunity comes, and be a good friend for them.

Lord,
you know every heart
please surround me with good friends
and help me to be a good friend
