The eye of a needle

Jesus taught a lot of treating others as well as ourselves. Including and especially of the poor.

Unfortunately, many rich people do not heed these teachings. They only treat other rich people well. They are more interested in protecting their wealth than in sincerely, genuinely, and behaviourally honouring the poor.

"Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor people of this world to be rich in faith and to possess the kingdom which he promised to those who love him. But you dishonour the poor! Who are the ones who oppress you and drag you before the judges? The rich!"

(James 2.5-6 GNB)

God is not against wealth. But he is concerned with how earthly wealth affects me and how I follow Jesus. If I do not treat the poor like Jesus wants me to treat the poor, then I am not obeying Jesus, am I?

And if I am not obeying Jesus, then what does that say about my faith?

“Jesus then said to his disciples, “I assure you: it will be very hard for rich people to enter the Kingdom of heaven. I repeat: it is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.””

(Matthew 19.23-24 GNB)
