Shackled by the past (2)
"Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. All this is done by God .."
(2 Corinthians 5.17-18 GNB)
If I refuse to change, then how can I be a new being / creation in Christ? The definition of a new creation is that I am no longer what I used to be. If I do not change at all, then there is nothing "new" - which means I am not being created in Christ.
And it is not Christ who is at fault. I am.
I am the one who hinders the Spirit from changing me, if I hold tightly to the "old" me.
Many Christians are shackled by their past and unable to become a new creation in Christ, because they think the change will happen from the outside in, painlessly. No. Change happens from the inside out. And sometimes painful.
I must change. Daily I need to be newly created to become more and more Christlike.
