Features, not bugs

When using computer or phone application, I run into things that do not work well or do not work as I expect. Typically these are called bugs, if they are things that broke and the application maker will fix. In some cases, the maker will say some of the things are not wrong; they just do not work the way I am used to or the way I want, but the maker or other people may find them just fine. These are features.

Disagreement of what is feature and what is bug is common - it is related to a difference of approach in doing things.

In relationships with people close to me, I get annoyed by "flaws" in them. I think they should be fixed. In a way, I might have thought of this as "bugs" like in applications.

But what if I am wrong?

What if their "flaws" are features, not bugs?

I for certain cannot change them. Only they can change themselves. And they do not see their behaviours or characters as "flaws". They think they are fine as they are. Those are "features" so to speak.

As much as I do not like them, I need to learn to see this from their perspectives. And from God's perspectives.

What if God says these are features - not bugs - to change me?

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

(Isaiah 55.8-9 NLT)
