Fighting against God
"When the members of the Council heard this, they were so furious that they wanted to have the apostles put to death. But one of them, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was a teacher of the Law and was highly respected by all the people, stood up in the Council. He ordered the apostles to be taken out for a while, and then he said to the Council, “Fellow-Israelites, be careful what you do to these men. ...
... If what they have planned and done is of human origin, it will disappear, but if it comes from God, you cannot possibly defeat them. You could find yourselves fighting against God!”"
(Acts 5.33-35,38-39 GNB)
It is hard enough to always remember to check if something that happens in my life comes from God or from my flesh. It is even harder to check this of others' actions or decisions.
If someone does something and I am bothered by it. My first reaction is to be annoyed at this person. But, regardless of what I perceive of the person, what if the action is aligned with God's will?
"If it comes from God ... I could find myself fighting against God!"
And I do not want that.
So before I act against someone, I need to check first.
