Ask why (2)
A couple of days ago, I just bought a new pair of running shoes of the type that I usually avoided. I made an exception this time because these shoes use outsole design that is unique which I hope can accommodate my gait better to last longer than my usual running shoes. I tried them in the store and they seemed alright.
This morning I had my first run in them - my usual distance. Comfortable but very different from what I like. My legs ached differently during and after the run. This may take longer than expected to adjust into them.
So also in life. I make choices to accomplish specific reasons. And the choices come with their consequences, for better or worse. When I have to deal with some of the “worse” consequences, I need to remind myself the reasons that led to them.
As long as the reasons still apply, then I ought to go through these consequences and minimise the impacts as best I can. But if not, then I ought to backtrack and make a different choice.
I don’t want to live life mindlessly. I want to live it according to God’s purpose.
