They helped
"About that time some prophets went from Jerusalem to Antioch. One of them, named Agabus, stood up and by the power of the Spirit predicted that a severe famine was about to come over all the earth. (It came when Claudius was emperor.)
The disciples decided that they would each send as much as they could to help their fellow-believers who lived in Judea. They did this, then, and sent the money to the church elders by Barnabas and Saul."
(Acts 11.27-30 GNB)
A severe famine was about to spread widely, including Antioch. Why did they decide to send money out? Weren't they also at risk from the famine? What was their motive? Why to Judea? And did they send to Cyprus and Cyrene also where many of them came from?
Was it a unanimous decision? I speculate not. Maybe only the better off believers sent money.
When famine or epidemic strike widely, who will the local church support? How would the local church go about it?
Not every church would act like the Christians in Antioch when hard time comes. What would your church and my church do?
